Learning Coach/Parent Responsibilities
Students in grades K-5 require an Online Learning Coach to support and guide them through their school day. The Learning Coach can be a parent, guardian, or responsible caregiver who assists in daily learning while the STRIDE Academy teacher designs and delivers instruction.
A successful online learning experience depends on strong communication between the student, Learning Coach, Teachers, and the STRIDE Academy Online Director. Open communication is encouraged, and any questions, comments, or concerns will be addressed as quickly as possible.
The Learning Coach will:
- Guide the student through lessons and assist as needed.
- Discuss concepts being taught and reinforce understanding.
- Oversee assignments, interactive tools, and hands-on learning activities.
- Ensure fidelity in completing course components, including independent reading, novel studies, and practice activities.
- Monitor progress, maintain pacing, and keep students on schedule.
- Communicate absences, questions, technical issues, or learning challenges with the Student Support Specialist or School Counselor.
- Create a structured, distraction-free learning environment at home.
- Maintain consistent communication with teachers and school staff.
- Encourage and foster a love for learning by providing positive reinforcement and support.
- Dedicate 4-5 hours per day assisting younger learners, with support needs decreasing as students gain independence.
STRIDE Virtual Academy values the important role of Learning Coaches in ensuring student success. We are here to provide the curriculum, tools, guidance, and resources needed to make online learning a rewarding experience for every student and family.
