Mission

Health Service and School Nursing's primary mission is to support and enhance the education process through the modification or removal of health/safety-related barriers to learning and by promoting life skills to maintaining optimal wellness.

STRIDE Health Services Delivery Model

The delivery model of health services at STRIDE Academy is one that uses a combination of a Licensed School Nurses (LSN) and Health Services Assistants (HSAs).  HSAs perform health office clerical functions, care for ill and injured students, and carry out delegated nursing activities performed under the LSN's supervision.

The Licensed School Nurse is responsible for coordinating and managing the health needs of individual students during the school day as well promoting health and safety for all students at the school. The LSN also provided training, delegation/supervision of the HSAs and is responsible for school heath program planning, quality assurance and responding to crises.

The entire school health team works with families, students and staff to promote and maintain a healthy and safe learning environment.


Immunizations Needed for School

Kids Need Shots for School! It's the Law in Minnesota. To go to school at STRIDE Academy, students must provide proof that they are up to date with their immunizations or that they are exempt from the requirements for medical reasons or the beliefs of the parent/guardian.  Click one of the links below for more details on what is required.

Illness and Communicable Diseases

A child should not come to school (and will be sent home from school) if they have or have had:

•·  A fever of 100 degrees F (orally) or higher in the past 24 hours WITHOUT fever-reducing medication

•·  Vomiting or diarrhea in the past 24 hours

•·  An undiagnosed skin rash

•·  Untreated live head lice
